Holiday rentals in the Languedoc-Roussillon region - Gîtes de France® in Languedoc-Roussillon
from our selection of 3,800 gîtes, chambres d'hôtes, group gîtes, children's
gîtes and campsites by the sea, in the mountains, in the countryside or in
town, in the Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère and Pyrénées-Orientales
The Lozère region is a delight for nature lovers with its open, untamed landscapes and the canyons of the Tarn Gorge. The Cévennes have also protected their authenticity, and have many surprises in store for visitors.
If you like lively torrents, you can let yourself be carried down the Tarn and admire its canyons from water level. Linking the Cévennes, the plains and Provence, the Gard leads you to the Camargue, caught between land and sea, with its endless sandy beaches.
Wine enthusiasts should visit the famous vineyards of the Minervois and the Corbières, whose produce is sure to please!
History buffs will also fall under the region's spell, thanks to the Roman ruins in the Gard, the Cathar citadels in the Pyrenees and of course, Carcassonne, the largest medieval town in Europe.
The Roussillon has marvels beyond Perpignan, too. The skull of the oldest known European (450,000 years old) was found in Tautavel, whilst the pioneers of contemporary art (Picasso, Matisse and Chagall), who fell in love with Catalonia's unique light, are on exhibition in Céret.
